A few months ago we wrote a lot about the awesome family we stayed with in Fiji. As you may have heard, the island of Viti Levu was severely damaged when the strongest cyclone ever recorded in Fiji made landfall on February 20th of this year.
A gofundme campaign has been set up to help raise funds for the Chand family who lost everything in the storm. Fortunately, no one in the family was injured and they were able to move temporarily to a guest house on the property that was least damaged. As a result of the devastation across the island, bookings at SigaSiga and across resorts in Fiji have been cancelled, leaving the family short of much needed income.
“We are a 3 generation family of 10 living on a coconut plantation in Fiji. We grow our own food, harvest coconuts, dry the meat (copra) and sell to the local mill. Your generous donations will give us needed hope for a future and hopefully this property can recover and continue with rentals so our jobs remain secure. We will be so very greatful for your help!”
All contributions to this campaign will go to Gene, the owner of SigaSiga Sands who will distribute the funds and help Subash and the Chand Family rebuild their home in paradise.
